HiMON® True-PD
Partial discharge monitoring
HiMON® TruePD (partial discharge monitoring) offers state-of-the-art partial discharge detection for maximum grid safety. Because availability and operational safety are among the top priorities in your high-voltage grids – especially when connecting critical infrastructures.
The TruePD methodology offers innovative detection and localization of partial discharge active faults in AC and DC cable systems - precisely, efficiently and over distances between two sensors of up to 12 kilometers. This distance makes TruePD unique worldwide!
With HiMON® TruePD, cable faults can be specifically detected and potential faults can be rectified during planned routine maintenance.

Technical details
Determining the cable characteristics
Small signals are fed into your cable at regular intervals via the HiMAG® and HiRES® Analyzer. These signals pass through the entire cable system and are picked up again at the other end as attenuated or distorted signals. The recorded measurement signals are used to determine the current cable characteristics.
Reliable partial discharge detection
The signals measured at the beginning and end of the cable are evaluated and filtered using intelligent algorithms. This ensures precise detection of partial discharges
Precise localization and evaluation
Our system not only determines the location of a partial discharge, but also how large it is. The combination of the recorded measurement data and the current cable characteristics enable the amplitudes to be determined directly at the point of origin – an essential basis for quickly and specifically identifying incipient damage in the cable system and rectifying it during planned maintenance measures.
Expert assessment
In addition to automated localization, further diagnostics are carried out using an expert-based assessment as part of the HiMON® service contract
