WRV T for medium voltage
Mobile AC resonance testing system for medium-voltage cables
Resonant testing has been established in high- and extra-high-voltage applications for decades. With the WRV 20/75 T, this proven testing principle is now also available for medium-voltage and lower high-voltage applications in a mobile solution. The system tests cables from 6 kV to 69 kV with a test voltage of up to 75 kV.
Your Advantages at a Glance
-
Detects faults early
In combination with partial discharge measurement, weak points in cables and joints can be identified before they become critical during operation.
-
Real operating conditions
AC resonance testing, purely sinusoidal voltage waveform, 20 to 300 Hz.
-
Mobile
With a system weight of less than 3.5 t, the unit is designed for small trucks, vans, or trailers.
-
Modular expandable
Additional reactors and the parallel operation of multiple units enable higher test loads.
Product Information
- On-site testing of XLPE terrestrial and submarine cables
- Withstand voltage testing
- Partial discharge measurements (primarily in cable sleeves or short cables)
The WRV 20/75 T has been designed for applications where obtaining a reliable information about the condition of cable systems is critical. With increasing grid utilization, expanding infrastructure, and higher demands on materials and operating environments, the quality of on-site testing continues to grow in importance. AC resonance testing provides a reliable foundation for this as it operates under conditions that are significantly closer to real-world grid operation than other alternative testing methods.
AC resonance testing is used where a realistic voltage waveform and meaningful partial discharge measurement are required. It is precisely the combination of voltage testing and PD diagnostics that turns a test into a well-founded basis for decision-making regarding commissioning, recommissioning, and condition assessment of cables and entire line systems.
At the same time, the system remains consistently geared toward field use. The WRV 20/75 T combines a compact design, mobile operation, and modular expandability with a testing principle that has been the benchmark in high-voltage applications for years. For operators, manufacturers, and testing service providers, this is a technically compelling opportunity to strategically develop their own testing fleet and prepare it for increasing requirements in medium-voltage and lower high-voltage applications.
