HIGHVOLT opens historic high-voltage test hall for Open Monument Day 2025

Experience high voltage – discover what otherwise remains hidden

On September 14, HIGHVOLT will open the doors of its historic high-voltage test hall to all technology enthusiasts and curious visitors on the occasion of Open Monument Day.

“Discover what otherwise remains hidden” – under this motto, you can expect a fascinating look behind the scenes of a world-leading company for high-voltage test systems.

The hall, now a technical monument, was built in the early 1950s by architects Paul Michael and Paul Voges for the former transformer and X-ray factory (TuR). With its monumental dimensions of 55 × 40 × 29 meters, it was considered the largest monolithic industrial building in Europe. A central assembly pit even allows the height to be extended to 34 meters. The new hall made it possible to manufacture and assemble high-voltage test systems more efficiently and to carry out final and acceptance tests even for the highest voltages.

After extensive renovation by HIGHVOLT, the hall now serves as a state-of-the-art test hall for high-voltage systems used worldwide.

On Open Monument Day, visitors can take a look inside the hall, gain exciting insights into the work of HIGHVOLT, and learn about the company's contribution to a secure power supply. In addition, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the history of high voltage at the traditional Dresden site. A small demonstration will bring high voltage to life.
