HIGHVOLT supplies mobile resonant test systems to Kinectrics to expand high-voltage cable testing capabilities

HIGHVOLT is pleased to announce that Kinectrics has signed a contract to expand its high-voltage cable testing capabilities. Under this contract, HIGHVOLT will supply 10 mobile resonant test systems (RTS), with an option for four additional units. This significant investment by Kinectrics and its owner BWXT reinforces Kinectrics' position as the world's largest independent provider of on-site high voltage cable testing and underlines its confidence in HIGHVOLT as a reliable partner in the field of high voltage testing technology.

Dr. Mario Jochim, Project Manager at HIGHVOLT, commented: "HIGHVOLT has been supplying high voltage test systems for on-site cable testing since 1998 and has delivered over 160 of these specialized systems worldwide. Kinectrics is one of our most important customers and has now placed the largest single order for this testing technology. This is another step towards the energy transition."

The rapid expansion of renewable energy construction projects is projected to quadruple the market for HV cables in the future, inherently resulting in an increased need for reliable HV cable commissioning services. A critical activity after completion of cable laying and installation to support a smooth transition from OEM to developer/owner is HV AC cable commissioning testing, which reliably identifies laying and installation related life-limiting defects thus minimizing downtime and helping clients avoid costly in-service failures. This is best achieved by performing withstand testing, and monitor withstand testing where possible, according to IEC 60840, IEC 62067 and IEC 63026.
