California here we come! Please attend our last Bible Bowl meeting today from 2-3 p.m. in the high school room to discuss the California Trip. Bible Bowl will be leaving on Thursday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. to travel to California for their yearly competition in Whittier. We were supposed to travel to San Diego, but that trip got cancelled so we spoke with Whittier and they agreed to host Bible Bowl this year. We will travel to Phoenix and spend the night at the Northwest Church of Christ, 5110 W. Union Hills Dr. arriving late at night. We will then continue to drive to Whittier California to Crosspoint Christian Church at 8155 Painter Ave. From there we will launch out to do a service project with the Ronald McDonald house. You must pre-register for the Ronald McDonald house today! We will have our competition on Saturday and then leave for the amusement park for the rest of the day. We will be worshipping with the Whittier church in the morning and then head to the beach Sunday afternoon. It will be a great trip and we want to make sure everyone has all that they need. So please be at the meeting today, this will be our last Bible bowl meeting! Yeah! Mesa Bible Bowl We had a great trip to Mesa, we had 27 people go and everyone did great! You can check out the results in the bulletin insert today which has both Mesa and Fabulous 13. We also enjoyed going to Usury Park and did some hiking, had a cookout and sang around the camp fire. It was a lot of fun and every enjoyed their host families; well, almost everyone. We appreciate the support from our adults David and Nola Fisher and Tom and Gina Allison. We could not make these trips without their love and support year after year. Thanks coaches for all that you do for our young people. Backpacking It is not too early to start talking about our backpacking trip scheduled for April 6-8, you will have to miss one day of school to go on this trip. The reason for this is that we prefer walking during the daylight and not at night. We are planning on returning to Turkey Creek which means at least 2 main crossings
of the Gila river which is always deep this time of year. It was a great experience last year and we are hoping for another great year. It is a very easy hike for first time backpackers. Please be at the pre-meeting April 2 on Monday afternoon 1-2 p.m. for all the details. There should not be any school on Monday because of the Easter Weekend, but we do need to meet to work out all the details. If you cannot make this meeting please talk to me in person. Riverside Youth Rally The Riverside youth rally is April 13-15, the cost is $10 per person and they provide the housing. You will also have to pay for 1 meals, one on Saturday and any snacks that you want to buy for the trip down. This rally is always a lot of fun, and we enjoy hanging out with many of the other teens from all over the state. I don’t have a lot of details yet, but I will keep you posted, I just wanted to give you a heads up about what is coming up next that includes everyone Secret Church We had about 30 people at secret church last Wednesday night. We met upstairs in the gym and talked about the persecuted church around the world. It was very good, and Peyton Womble led our singing. I hope to have secret church at least 3 times a year to remind us to pray for Christians around the world. It also reminds us that we need to take our own spiritual walk seriously. Thanks to Aubrey and Ever for helping set up everything to get us ready for that evening, and the Coalson’s who provided the food for everyone. It was a great evening. I am finding that many of the students are not communicating with their parents. So please come if you need more information. Also, we will have a list of numbers and addresses that you can take with you along with a schedule. It should be a good short meeting. Thanks for entrusting us with your teens. We have 6 adults going with us, Liz Uranga, David and Nola Fisher, Tom and Gina Allison, and myself. Bible bowl is a long season that started in September and ends this coming weekend. Thank you for bringing them to all the study sessions throughout the year, it is a real time commitment.
