Youth Weekly Newsletter
This week, the puppets will be performing at the Southern New Mexico State Fair, this will be out 32 year to perform at the Fair.  We started in 1987 and have continued consecutively since then providing fun entertainment for the children that are at the Fair.  We interact with the Fair participants by passing out free popcorn and we participate in many of the Fair events.  If you are not doing puppets this year, please come by the puppet stage and show your support.  We will be close to the petting zoo, near the entrance of the main even arena.  Our shows are on Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday all day until 9 p.m.  We have 14 shows in all.  I know we are not professional puppeteers, but we enjoy serving the community and having fun.  The puppeteers practice hard and have a lot of fun doing it.  Here are the details about the weekend.   Friday our shows are at 5:30; 6:30; 7:30; and 8:30 p.m.  On Saturday our shows are at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6:30; 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.   If you are a puppeteer, you need to be at the building at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.  We will return Friday night at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday around 10 p.m.   You will need to bring your own money for meals except for Saturday lunch.   Any other Fair food you are on your own, I would bring about $20 for 2 meals, one on Friday and one on Saturday.  Bring a jacket incase in gets cold, we have had it rain on us in the past.  Any more questions we will talk about it at today’s rehearsal at 3:30 p.m. today.

Father/Student Paintball
On Saturday, October 6, we are having a special father/student activity.  If your father cannot make it or you would like to substitute someone else, you can.  This cost is about $25 per person for your paintballs, gun, and helmet.  I would wear long sleeves and long pants to cut down on the pain, but those clothing items will get paint on them.  It is often very wise to bring gloves as well, since getting hit on your hand really hurts.   We will meet at the building at 8:00 a.m. and return after Lunch.  We usually play for a couple of hours.  If you want extra paintballs you will have to
purchase them.  They give us 200 paint balls which usually last the entire time.  Afterwards we eat lunch at Rudy’s BBQ.  It is a great weekend.  A Player Waiver is required each year so please fill that out on line at www.winkeydoodles.com

Retreat Report
We had a great time on the fall retreat, about 43 people from UCC attended and we heard from Scott Hall the campus minister at a Christian Church in Lubbock.  We had a great time and David Marshall from Calvary Chapel Lead our worship time.  It was great to be up in the mountains and away from everything.  We had several groups join us, Ruidoso, Capitan, and Grants and it was great to see them and work together.  I want to give a shout out to David and Nola Fisher, and Tom and Gina Allison who worked in the kitchen the whole weekend.  They prepared all our food for each meal and did a lot of clean up.  Thank you so much for helping!  Also, David Russell, Quinn and Hailey and Katelynn also helped drive people up to camp.  On Saturday, Amy and Mary Beth brought up 3 more teens so everyone pitched in and helped.  Thank you so much!  I hope that everyone feels blessed by the weekend.

Parents Page
HELP with the puppet stage on Friday, September 28.  If you can help set up the puppet stage, please let me know.  We are meeting at the building at 6:55 a.m. on Friday morning and then traveling to the Fair Grounds to set up.  We usually get finished around 11 a.m. So, any extra hands are deeply appreciated.   The teens will be performing at the fair that Friday.  We could use a parent’s help this Wednesday at huddles.  We need someone to bring French bread.  Also, we are still needing parents to help on Tuesday nights at the building from 7-8 p.m. for class.  You just need to be there to help with keeping the teens focused on the lesson.  A shout out to the Leachman’s for hosting dinner and a movie at their house this past Friday.  Thanks!
